UFC 118: James Toney Takes Home 750K - 1 Million in MMA Debut

PDFPrintE-mail

It is being reported by Yahoo Sports that James Toney will make anywhere from 750K to 1 million dollars for his MMA debut.  For those of you watched the fight, I think it is safe to say that we both "Called it" and got ripped off at the same time.

James Toney did not throw a single strike and his boxing pedigree left the cage when  he was caught with a single leg take down.  As Toney fell to the ground, Couture took the mount with no hassle.  The only attempt at a defense was Toney trying to scoot Couture against the cage but that was immediately halted when "The Natural" slapped on an arm triangle choke.

DANA WHITE: The Ultimate Promoter Hype

PDFPrintE-mail

Lookoutawhale created this Dana White "Ultimate Promoter Hype' video that reflects upon the relationship between the UFC and Kimbo Slice.  As much as we wanted to see Kimbo knock someone out, or get knocked out, the statistics prove that Kimbo Slice call pull in a crowd.  And even though Dana White denies this as the reason for milking the Kimbo Slice cow, this video gives us a pretty good idea of the Ultimate Promoter Hype.

Lesnar's the champ: No doubt about it!

PDFPrintE-mail

Many questioned the true validity of current UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, and felt he didn't deserve the status he was given.  He silenced all the doubters tonight.  Brock survived an early storm of brutal left and right hands, top mounted ground and pound , and elbows, managed to fight his way into the second round, and submit the "interim champion" by kata-gatame (arm triangle choke).  Shane Carwin actually defended the submission well, however it looks as if Mr. Lesnar has indeed been working on his ever evolving MMA game.
