Vladimir Putin Supports M1 Sochi Open Eropean Championships

New York City, New York (July 15, 2010) The Sochi Open European Championships took place in Sochi, Russia July 14, 2010. Organized by Sambo-70 and M-1Global, the event showcased some of the best fighters from Russia and Europe in head to head match ups. The highly anticipated, televised event was attended by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, Governor of Krasnodar Alexander Tkachev, Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko, and Fedor Emelianenko.

  
Asked his thoughts on the event, M-1 Global co-founder, Vadim Finkelchtein, was happy with the fights and the event, “I would especially like to note the battle with Eastern Europe’s M-1 Selection 2010 tournament championship finalists, Slava Vasilevsky and Javier Hopa-Pokam. It was a great fight and Vasilevsky showed courage and determination. Knowing that Prime Minister Putin would attend, he decided to take a risk and compete tonight but he should still be able to compete on July 22 in Moscow.”
 

STRIKEFORCE: Challengers July 23, Fodor vs Diagne

EVERETT, Wash. (July 14, 2010) -The students of two icons will collide when submission specialist and Matt Hume protégé Caros "The Future" Fodor (5-2) takes on Cung Le student Thomas Diagne (1-1) in a lightweight (155 pounds) contest on the STRIKEFORCE Challengers Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight card at Comcast Arena at Everett, on SHOWTIME, on Friday, July 23.

The Maximum Fighting Championship, one of the premier mixed martial arts organizations in North America, will make its much-anticipated debut in the province of Manitoba with the announcement that MFC 26: Retribution will be held in the city of Brandon on Friday, September 10.

STRIKEFORCE: Conference for Aug 21 Houston Event

HOUSTON (July 13, 2010) – STRIKEFORCE formally announced Tuesday a World Championship Doubleheader for Toyota Center here on Saturday, Aug. 21, live on SHOWTIME® (10 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the west coast). 

STRIKEFORCE World Light Heavyweight (205 pounds) Champion “King Mo” Lawal (7-0) will make the first defense of his belt against devastating striker Rafael “Feijao’’ Cavalcante (9-2) in the main event. The semi-main will match Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza (12-2-1) and Tim Kennedy (12-2) in a clash for the vacant STRIKEFORCE Middleweight (185 pounds) crown.

STRIKEFORCE: King Mo vs Cavalcante

STRIKEFORCE World Light Heavyweight (205 pounds) Champion "King" Mo Lawal will make the first defense of his belt against devastating striker Rafael "Feijao'' Cavalcante in the main event.  The undefeated Lawal is a two-time NCAA Division I All-American and Big 12 wrestling champion for Oklahoma State University, while Cavalcante is a winner in five of his last six and coming off a devastating first-round KO win.

DREAM 15: Results

DREAM 15 took place in Saitama, Japan and featured a lightweight bout between current champion Shinya Aoki and top contender Tatsuya Kawajiri.  A four man Light Heavyweight tournament preliminary round took place between Gegard Mousasi, Jake O'Brien, Melvin Manhoef and Tatsuya Mizuno. Our friends across the sea are planning on hosting a Lightweight Title fight between current champion Shinya Aoki and a solid contender in Tatsuya Kawajiri.  DREAM 15 takes place in the famous fight city of Saitama, Japan and plays host to a four man tournament including former DREAM and STRIKEFORCE Light Heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi, K-1 powerhouse Melvin Manhoef, talented wrestler Jake O'Brien and Japanese hometown favorite Tatsuya Mizuno.
